Fort Worth With a population of one half million, Fort Worth is half the size of Dallas, and sometimes gets overlooked. You'd be missing something if you did not visit Fort Worth when you visit the Metroplex. More cultural, and more cowboy, Fort Worth is a blend of modern, art, and western. It's more what people expect out of Texas. This shot was taken from a couple of miles north of downtown on Main Street, about halfway to the famous Stockyards. ©2001 by Jeffrey L. Cooper

Tornado In March, 2000, Fort Worth had the unfortunate circumstance to be hit by a powerful tornado, right in the downtown area. The Bank One building, shown here, was devastated. Nearly all the windows were blown out. It's amazing more people were not killed (only a few) as it hit during rush hour. Presently, the building is on a course to be destroyed, as it would cost more to repair it than replace it. Sad. ©2001 by Jeffrey L. Cooper |

First United Methodist Church Next to downtown is this beautiful church, somehow spared the tornado's wrath. Built in 1930, it stands in gothic contrast to the modern downtown (and the destroyed Bank One building in the background). ©2001 by Jeffrey L. Cooper |
