Waco, Texas
The 22-story Alico building was built in 1911, and reigned briefly as the tallest building in the Southwest.  The architects were Sanquinet and Staats.  It was a pleasant surprise to see such an old building still in place and functional.  What's more amazing is that it survived the 1953 tornado that slammed into downtown Waco, killing 114 people and destroying nearly 500 other buildings.
