Description
Thanksgiving Square
This is my favorite structure in downtown Dallas.  Few people know it actually contains a small chapel inside, dwarfed by all the glass high rises around it.
Thanksgiving Plaza
A bit more broad view of the area.
Downtown from Reunion Tower
This is the view from Reunion Tower.
US Post Office
This is the old US Post Office building, much of which is or has been renovated into lofts.
Hartford Building
Older building next to the USPS.
Renaissance Tower
1970's era skyscraper that underwent a makeover in the 1980's, guided by none other than the famous I.M. Pei (of Louvre fame), who has made perhaps the biggest mark on the Dallas skyline of anyone (many buildings here were designed by him).
Thanksgiving Tower
This 3D reflection in Thanksgiving Tower is nice, showing another Dallas icon in the reflection.
Katy Trail View
This view from the Katy Trail shows Chase Tower in the distance, with it's keyhole near the top.
Downtown Reflections
Westward looking from the corner of Ross & Pearl Streets, the church is the downtown Methodist church, with a glass tower reflecting other nearby buildings as a backdrop.
Bronze Herd
Part of the bronze herd of cattle that adorns the front lawn of Dallas City Hall.
Bronze Herd
Part of the bronze herd of cattle that adorns the front lawn of Dallas City Hall.
Cityplace
One of what were to be two towers, the marble-covered Cityplace sits just a bit outside downtown, not crowded in with the other buildings.
Bank One Center
A marvelous building smack in the center of things.  It's vertical profile is stunning and makes it one of the nicer buildings in Dallas.
Dallas Arboretum
Small, but pleasant in 3D, this arrangement of potted plants is located at the Dallas Arboretum, about 10 minutes from downtown.
Fountain Place
The best plaza in downtown is at Fountain Place, the former Allied Bank Tower (of which there was also to be a twin).  It was designed by I.M. Pei and built in the 1980's.
Fountain Place
This is where it gets it's name.  All day on warm days, though discouraged by security guards, children and sometimes adults run through the fountains in a game of dodging the water jets before they get them.
