El Capitan, Guadalupe National Park, Texas
El Capitan is over 8000 feet in elevation, and is right next to the highest point in text, Guadalupe Peak.  Guadalupe National Park is a nice park with terrain that goes from desert dryness to forest.  It is not heavily visited and is a nice place to get away from civilization.  Plus, Carlsbad Caverns is less than an hour up the road in New Mexico.  El Capitan is actually formed from an old coral reef when this area was seafloor a few eons ago.
