McDonald Observatory, Texas
McDonald Observatory is located in the Davis Mountains in West Texas. This is a very beautiful region. They are currently building the Multiple Mirror Telescope (MMT), which will be one of the best Earth-based telescopes in the world when finished. Nearby is the town of Marfa, where there are "mysterious" lights that flutter on the horizon and have supposedly been unexplained for over a century.
